Seeking professional native translators and reviewers who can help us localize the All About Parenting methodology for Arabic countries

Nia Cremene
All About Parenting
Co-Founder

If you’re a professional native Arabic translator or reviewer, who works from English, with experience in localization, then this message is for you.

And if you’re not the collaborator we are looking for… you could still earn $150 if you recommend the person who goes on to become our partner and works with us for at least 3 months! Read on to find out how.

Here is what I want to talk to you about:

1) Our back story and how All About Parenting has evolved over time

2) The volume of the project to be translated

3) The type of translator we’re looking for and how you can contribute to a new generation of parents

4) How to apply and what happens next

1) Our back story and how All About Parenting has evolved over time

My name is Nia Cremene and my All About Parenting story began over 10 years ago when I completed my first internationally recognized Parenting Expert certification.

Back then, this was considered a pioneering field, and many people thought there was no need to learn how to raise children better. Actually, we still have a lot of work to do to change this perception.

The same year my son was born – 2010 – I began giving seminars for groups of 10-12 people, teaching parents how to solve day-to-day problems and raise children to be independent. The workshops were always two-day weekend events. I remember that I did the first workshop while I was still breastfeeding (during breaks).
I quickly realized that this was my mission and that parenting would become more than just a job. I’d found my vocation. Not long after, my mission took shape: to reach as many parents as possible. I wanted to help them and give them valuable and effective information so they could have well-balanced relationships with their children and raise them responsibly. That way, their world tomorrow will be better than ours today.

This was how the first parenting methodology based on the latest research into the science of motivation was born, along with the first online parenting course – which lasted 9 months, on the principle that as it takes 9 months to bring a child into the world, it would make sense to invest at least as much time in studying the art of raising them.

In 4 years, I went from being a lone wolf to working with more than 30 wonderful people. Today, the All About Parenting team is getting close to 70 people in 7 different countries, covering the 4 languages we present to our clients worldwide.
Together with the other All About Parenting trainers, in the last 5 years, we’ve met more than 600,000 parents at our free online and offline seminars.

We now have over 740,000 parents subscribed to our weekly e-newsletter or follow us on Facebook, and 40,000+ parents on the All About Parenting online programme learning how to raise their children differently.

Initially, All About Parenting began in Romania, though since the start, I’ve been in contact with researchers from universities around the world (today, there are over 40!). What started as a local project blossomed and quickly branched out to other countries all over the globe.

Thanks to the universality of the fundamentals of the All About Parenting programme (like Self-Determination Theory), it works in every language, culture, race, social class, etc. All About Parenting is not “one mommy’s opinion”, like many blogs on the subject, and it doesn’t offer up “recipes” for you to follow. Rather, it uses the language parents themselves use to provide simple explanations for complex, tried-and-tested ideas from worldwide research in psychology.

In the last 2 years, we’ve translated, filmed and edited the All About Parenting programme into English, Russian, German, and Polish. In the next 2 years, we want to grow our team in Portuguese-, Spanish-, French-, Italian- and Arabic-speaking countries.

What we want to achieve with All About Parenting, moving forward

It might look like we’ve come a long way, but what we have achieved so far is just the tip of the iceberg compared to what we want to do in the next 10 years.

Three years from now, we want to be operating in more than 30 countries. We realize that it’s a pretty crazy objective for a team as small as ours, but that just spurs us on even more.

Our vision is that by inspiring a “critical mass” of parents around the world to choose to learn All About Parenting, they will then inspire other parents to do the same.

Unfortunately, schooling doesn’t always prepare us for day-to-day life. We’ve ended up believing that there is no need or it’s not normal to learn about how to raise a fulfilled child.

Nothing impacts a person’s life more than the parent-child relationship (a.k.a. parenting). This is why we’ve decided to make it our team’s mission.

We want to make parents worldwide feel that learning about parenting is as normal as taking driving lessons before getting behind the wheel.

We don’t think it’s fair that you spend more time learning how to drive than you do about raising a child who is, after all, a future adult.

We want to change this perception in the collective mentality.

And this is where you come in.

You’ll help us inspire parents in the Arabic-speaking countries to learn how to raise fulfilled, independent children with a lot of faith in others and themselves.

2) The volume of the project to be translated

All About Parenting is a long-term project, which contains the following products to be translated from English into Arabic:

  1. The All About Parenting programme
  2. The Parenting Playbook
  3. Materials for webinars
  4. Parents App
  5. The All About Parenting website

1. All About Parenting is a video programme split into 10 chapters. Each chapter has about 30 episodes (approximately one for each day of the month). The script of one chapter has around 70 – 100 pages, and the whole Romanian script has around 1000 pages* (288,000 words).

2. The Parenting Playbook is a logbook that accompanies parents on their journey through the All About Parenting programme. Parents can make notes, solve quizzes and answer questions. The Parenting Playbook has approximately 47,000 words (160 pages), split into 2 volumes.

3. Our trainers hold free webinars where they identify and present solutions for the problems parents face. The materials that need to be translated for a webinar include the script, e-mails, social media posts and scripts for video ads, totalling around 100 pages.

4. Parents App is a mobile and desktop application where parents can view the programme and interact with other parents. The text that needs to be translated for the app has around 10,000 words.

5. The website has 3,200 words and presents information about the programme and the benefits it brings to parents.

*1 page = 300 words/page

3) The type of translator and reviewer we’re looking for and how you can contribute to changing a whole generation of parents and maybe more

We are looking for a professional native translator/reviewer who works with CAT tools and has experience with localization. We use SDL Trados in our team but we can include any other CAT tool you are working with.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive translator/reviewer who can easily identify localization issues and come up with solutions.

We are looking for a translator/reviewer who is specialised in marketing, communication and copywriting, ideally living in an Arabic country, with extensive knowledge and understanding of the Arabic culture, and who is eager to work in a team of professionals.

We are looking for a translator/reviewer who respects deadlines and communicates any unforeseen event which could be an impediment to respecting the deadline.

What’s in it for you

You’ll be valued as a team player and get to influence the content of our products.

You’ll work in a team together with the reviewer/translator, the QA specialist and the project manager, so you will be able to communicate directly with everyone.

You’ll be working in a team of professionals who know the translation business. The deadlines will be established together with the whole team, and rates are above the market average.

You will receive access to the All About Parenting programme and Parents App, which contain valuable information you can apply even if you are not a parent. If you are a parent, you will benefit from this information even more, and you will be paid to become the best version of parent you can be for your child.

4) How to apply

Send an email with a video in English* to my colleague Laura at laura@allaboutparenting.com with the answers to a few questions:

  1. Who are you and where do you live?
  2. What specific experience and skills do you have that make you right for the job?
  3. What convinced you to apply for this role?

The more detailed your answers to questions 2 and 3, the better.

*You can record this video in selfie-mode on your phone or on your computer. Upload the video in a cloud platform (Dropbox for example) and send only the link to it.

After you apply

All applications will receive a response, either yea or nay. If you get the thumbs up, we’ll ask you to send us a short translation test.

If, after this test, we consider you to be a great fit, then you’ll have a 30-minute interview with the project manager.

If everything goes well, we’ll talk about an attractive remuneration package and our objectives for the next 3 months.

So, if you tick all of the boxes above, please do apply because I can’t wait to meet you!

P.S. Reward offered! 🙂

Recommend the right person for this role and we will reward you for your help. If we get to collaborate with that person for 3 months, you will receive a $150 reward. No strings attached.

We’ve paid various amounts of money to recruiting agencies before – this is why we think it’s better for this money to go to someone who follows us in the parenting community.

So far, we’ve paid out $150 more than ten times and we hope to do it again soon.
